Shifnal Medical Centre
The proposed site for the New Shifnal Medical Centre was identified early with the help of the Local Authority and the land was subsequently designated for Medical Use Only within the Local Plan. This meant that the large scale increase in housebuilding around the Town would not “swallow” this site as it was protected from any other developments.
The new building was designed as a two storey medical centre within the South East corner of the site with the remaining land being envisaged for future development of “complementary medical buildings” to eventually form a state of the Art “Health Village”.
The design has taken into account the physical characteristics of the site, massing, scale, context, sustainability and its location together with the character of the surroundings. It is a full electric scheme, is being assessed as BREEAM “Excellent” and once constructed will form the new centre for Primary Care within the Shifnal Area. The block facing Haughton Road is orientated to the south and its roof consists of a full Solar PV panels which will assist with the schemes overall running costs.
