The existing GP surgery within Marston Green, Birmingham operates from a converted detached 1960’s house. Catering for in excess of 11,000 patients the Surgery is both inadequate and well below the minimum standards as required by the NHS.
After numerous years of site searching, a section of Green Belt land was finally chosen as the new building location. It is situated on the edge of Marston Green and it has been accepted by The Local Planning Authority as there was no other suitable site. The proposal brings together a “new way of thinking” and on the Ground Floor incorporates a 50 placement Children’s Nursery (0 to 5 years), A Gym for NHS use and Private, Cafe, Dedicated Physiotherapy Suite, a Chiropody Suite, Pharmacy and an MRI suite.
At the first floor the Marston Green Surgery has been sited together with office areas for The Coventry and Warwick CCG. At Second floor there is Expansion Space, At present however the GPs are hopeful that this will be fitted out as an Endoscopy Suite.
Externally, in addition to patient and staff car parking there is a hardstanding area for a mobile scanning unit/Dentistry unit to visit the site on a regular basis. The building has been designed as a Health Park to offer a wide variety of services for not just helping those who are ill but to help with the fitness and well being of patients.
