Hackmans Gate, Broome

The project site of a derelict yoghurt factory located on the entrance road to the picturesque rural village of Broome was identified as a site more suitable for residential use opposed to industrial. The practice developed multiple housing layout opportunities with the local authorities to obtain planning and change of use approval for the former industrial site. Careful consideration has been given to the position, scale and overall massing of the individual plots to ensure existing views across the landscape are not worsened through redevelopment of the site. Whilst the individual dwelling designs are not prescriptive, conditions have been implied to control the delivery of the individual dwellings.
